Katie Coker: Applications and Adversity

So many scholarships, so little time! There are so many scholarships that a senior can apply for, and it is just so overwhelming.

Since I have an older sister, I knew what I was getting into when my mother finally told me it was time to start applying for them. I have to admit I haven’t written that many essays for the scholarships I have applied for, but I know the time is coming. If you are having trouble finding scholarships or don’t know what is needed for scholarships, go to your school counselor -- that’s what they’re there for.

My counselor has helped me so much, and without her I wouldn’t have signed up for any scholarships at this point. Also, if you aren’t sure about a scholarship, sign up for it anyway. You can never sign up for too many scholarships. Every penny counts when paying for college.

This week I came down with a sickness and missed two days of school. I will NEVER miss school again. Now that I take serious classes, my makeup work is up to my nose. My latest senior-year advice: Stay healthy and try your hardest not to get sick.
