Trey Schucker Reports From Inside a College Fair

My school let our senior class visit Arkansas Tech University in Russellville for a college fair.

A college fair is where many different colleges come and set up booths for you to talk to admissions counselors about what the school has to offer. This was a great opportunity for me because I don’t have a lot of time to go visit campuses and talk about what the best parts are about colleges.

The event was held in the hallways of Tucker Coliseum. There were about 25 different schools set up; the National Guard and Army Reserve were also there. I talked to the University of Tulsa, the University of Central Arkansas, Arkansas State University, the University of Arkansas, and Arkansas Tech University.

The size of schools ranged from the University of the Ozarks to the University of Arkansas. I had return labels made that had my e-mail, home address, zip code, name, and phone number on them that I carried around with me. This made it so much quicker because at every booth they give you a questionnaire to fill out about yourself and all I had to do was stick the return label on the questionnaire.

There were many high schools there, which made it really crowded, so I just walked around in a circle talking to schools. I even stood in the back and listened to some schools that I’m not thinking about going to just to listen to what they have.

I think all but 13 kids in my senior class went, and it was really nice of our school to let us attend. It was really great for me to get to do that and give my information to colleges. I have been getting mail from the schools that I talked to because I gave them my information and I am still learning more about each school.
