Katie Coker: Managing Time and Stress

By Katie Coker on Thursday, November 4, 2010

Now that homecoming week is over and Christmas break is nearing, the teachers are increasing the workload. Since I am in AP classes, the teachers give us an overview on Mondays of everything that is due that week. For me to remember everything, it is a must that I have my handy-dandy planner.

I wish there were more than 24 hours in a day, because now that I am a senior there is so much that has to be done. For instance, scholarships are a HUGE part of your senior year, and my advice is to apply for every single one because you never know how many you will receive. Even if the total isn’t a lot of money, when you are in college, every penny counts!

To help relieve stress, I usually take a nice hot shower and eat ice cream … haha, it helps A LOT! Also, I have learned that procrastination makes your stress level very high. I am sure that every high schooler has this problem, so everyone can relate to this! I am also the type of person who can’t do homework until the sun goes down, and it never works to my advantage. I have learned that the sooner I face my homework, the less stressed I will be. Plus it feels amazing when my friends are scurrying around doing last-minute homework and I am relaxing.
