Stuttgart High School Senior Anticipates Homecoming, Looks Ahead to College

By Katie Coker on Monday, October 11, 2010

Now that I am officially enrolled at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, I have gotten plenty of important e-mails on my school account. As soon as you get your acceptance letter, make sure to sign up for your new school e-mail account so you will be informed and be on the top of your game. It's very important to check your university e-mails because they will send you things that are important around the campus and let you know how to get things set up. The other day I got an e-mail talking about the importance of signing up for orientation and when the dates are.

As for Katie's senior year of high school...

Wow. Senior year is flying by way too fast. As I read on Facebook, everyone is getting ready for homecoming events or just finished festivities (ours is Oct. 23). I can’t wait to experience my last homecoming. It will mean so much more to me because it is my last homecoming as a Stuttgart Ricebird.

Since we have uniforms at my school, we can’t exactly dress up in different themes every day. (Yuck, I know!) But we definitely don’t just sit around during homecoming week -- we have Homecoming Cup. It is a lot of fun and everyone gets involved. Each day we can get points by winning relays during lunch and the big prize is if you find the spirit stick. The class of 2011 won last year and we are hoping for another win this year.

Stay tuned to find out more about my homecoming experience at Stuttgart High. (I wonder who will be the lucky 11 girls to make homecoming court?!)
