Trey Schucker Celebrates State Championship Win as His Senior Season Ends

Not a whole lot has been going on for college lately for me. My focus has mainly been on finishing up my high school basketball career. My basketball team made it to the state finals, which was played a couple Saturdays ago on March 12 in Hot Springs at the Summit Convention Center. We beat Jonesboro Westside 60-54 to win the State Championship!

It is such an amazing feeling to accomplish something like that. We have a great team and it has taken a whole team effort all season long to achieve all that we have. We won conference, district, regional, and now state. We have truly had a fantastic season and it has been a great senior season.

It was such an experience to play in a state finals game. The arena was so big and nice that it just takes your breathe away when you walk out on the court and it all consumes you. It seemed like all of Clarksville showed up to support us and it was such a great feeling to look up and see all of the people cheering. We got to stay at The Austin, which is a nice hotel right beside Summit Arena. We got a police escort on our way back through town and people lined the streets cheering and when we arrived at Clarksville High School, there was a big crowd cheering for us. It feels so great to be supported like we have been through this journey of a season.

Although it feels great to win a state championship and earn a ring, it also is a little sad to think that I will never play high school basketball again. I’ve had a lot of fun and it’s been great having such great teammates. I am going to miss it, but it sure feels good to leave my career with a championship ring on my finger.
