Kiersten Bright
Personal Banker, Citizens Bank
Age: 19 | Hometown: Batesville | Alma Mater: University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville

Driven by her passion for animals, Kiersten Bright initially aimed for a career as a veterinary technician. However, the emotional demands of the job as a veterinary helper proved to be overwhelming and ultimately unsustainable. She then chose to shift her professional focus, pivoting to banking, a field she was confident she would excel in.

“I chose the banking and financial industry because I discovered it came to me quite naturally,” Kiersten said. “Understanding how the financial systems operate, along with providing excellent customer service, has always been something I genuinely enjoy.”

During high school, she enrolled in a comprehensive three-year business course where she earned a business completer status. The classes not only deepened her knowledge of the field but also laid a strong foundation that prepared her for college classes. At the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, Kiersten earned her business associate degree with a focus on management and supervision.

“The coursework provided me with a strong foundation in business principles, leadership skills and effective management techniques, all of which are essential in a financial institution setting,” Kiersten said. “This education enhanced my ability to analyze complex financial data, understand organizational dynamics and deliver excellent customer service.”

Completing this degree has significantly improved her abilities, equipping her with stronger problem-solving skills and greater confidence in decision-making. Furthermore, she has gained a profound understanding of how to effectively operate and excel in a demanding, client-centric professional setting. Her favorite aspects of the role involve maintaining a structured and organized environment, assisting customers with their specific requirements and guaranteeing a customized, personal experience for every client.

“I think students should consider a career in the financial field because it offers a wide range of opportunities for growth, stability and skill development,” Kiersten said. “The industry allows people to work with numbers, problem solve, and help people manage their finances, which can also be very rewarding. Additionally, a finance career often provides good earning potential and the chance to work in diverse roles, from customer service to investment management.”
