Vicente Yañez

Vicente Yañez knew he wanted to pursue a career in computers and software. Software and mathematics always made sense to him and seemed careers he could pursue with endless opportunities. However, he also enjoys the arts. He hadn’t fully explored the art world until his son asked him to paint something in his new house. After that, he decided to commit to the ongoing process of becoming an artist, with a foundation in the art of software. While from the outside the two disciplines could not be more different, Vicente sees these career paths as the same.

“The aesthetic element of designing a system or a piece of art, the [countless] little things that need to be solved first in my head before I actually start doing anything, and the almost-magical idea that something now exists where there was nothing before,” Vicente said.

As both an artist and developer, Vicente’s favorite part of his work is the creative process and turning ideas into reality. He appreciates that the people he surrounds himself with at work share similar outlooks.

“Then the hands-on part, from creating small things to try out new ideas, to the hours of actually building the thing. And finally, the challenges that are bound to arise, exploring the many ways they can be solved, and choosing the one that fits the best the overall piece.”
