New Programs for Associate Degrees/Certificates
NWACC Develops Trail Construction Certification
NorthWest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) is developing a certification program in trail construction, design and maintenance. The program will cover skills like GIS, environmental soil science and computer-aided design. Students can pursue this certification in addition to the college's bicycle assembly and repair technician program.

UA Grantham Launches Online Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology Degree
The University of Arkansas Grantham offers a fully online Associate of Science in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology. This program provides flexibility for working professionals and includes courses in circuit design, digital and analog systems and system troubleshooting. Graduates are prepared for careers in telecommunications, manufacturing and IT.

NWTI Receives $4 Million Grant
Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale has been awarded a $4 million state grant to enhance its short-term certification programs, including commercial driver's licenses, automotive technology and welding. This funding aims to increase accessibility for high school graduates.

Biotechnology Certifications at NorthWest Arkansas Community College
NWACC has received approval for a Certificate of Proficiency in Pre-Biotech: Molecular & Cellular Biology and a Technical Certificate in Biotechnology. These are Arkansas’ first below-associate biotechnology programs, designed to stack into the AAS in General Technology, preparing students for lab technician roles. Initial cohorts expected in 2024–25, growing from 10 to 14 students annually.

Western Arkansas Apprenticeship Program - Electrical
Offers U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeships in Residential Wirework and Interior Electrician tracks. Programs include 288–576 classroom hours and 4,000–8,000 on-the-job training hours. Enrollment is open year-round; apprentices must be employed with a licensed electrical contractor.

Western Arkansas Apprenticeship Program - Plumbing
Provides U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeships with 640 classroom hours and 8,000 on-the-job training hours. Apprentices must be employed by a licensed master plumber. Rolling enrollment is available from July to May.

Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprenticeship Training of Arkansas (P.P.A.T.A.)
Conducts classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6–9 p.m., totaling 160 hours per year. Apprentices must be employed by a licensed master plumber and complete 2,000 on-the-job training hours annually. Tuition is $300 per year.
