Zach Henderson

Hometown: Shelby, Missouri
Age: 27
Where I trained: Arkansas State University - Newport
What I earned: Technical certificate
Job title: CAD/CAM Drafter
Employer: Southern Cast in Jonesboro

Zach Henderson attended the Missouri University of Science & Technology for three years when he decided to take an internship with Southern Cast. During his internship, Zach realized that Southern Cast was where he wanted to be. He asked for a full-time position, and the company created a spot for him. Zach pursued a position at Southern Cast because it would launch him straight into what he wanted without having to finish his degree. “I don’t have to burn any more money,” he says. “This gets me exactly where I want to be, for specifically what I wanted to do.”

Every day looks different for Zach, and he likes to keep it that way. “I like where I’m at because it’s like a different puzzle every day…” Zach’s job is constantly changing due to new and exciting projects with different clients. His favorite part about CAD/CAM drafting is seeing his ideas and projects progress from the beginning stages on paper to the final product.

Zach says the best way to progress in the CAD/CAM field is to be attentive and to put in the time and hard work. “If you can prove that you are an investment, the company will do whatever they can to see you advance.”
